Suffolk EV charging
Electrical infrastructure design supporting proposed EV charging across sites associated with Sizewell C.
The challenge
The project involved provision for up to 950 EV charging points across sites associated with Sizewell C. The scale of the proposed load required coordinated supply capacity, distribution and phased delivery.
Our approach
Charging locations were established on the base layout to inform substation capacity and loading. A three-phase distribution network supplied sub-feeder pillars, with individual supplies to charging points and a communications network for monitoring and control.
The outcome
The design supported phased commissioning, allowing sections of the charging network to be brought online as demand increased. This provided a route to expand capacity while coordinating the supporting electrical infrastructure.
