Woodford Garden Village
Highway lighting design for a major residential regeneration scheme, coordinating new streets and public spaces.
The challenge
The development required heritage-style lighting across tree-lined boulevards, pedestrian routes and public spaces. Work with Redrow Homes and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council balanced the character of the scheme with highway lighting and environmental requirements.
Our approach
HDS coordinated the lighting strategy across 17 construction phases, linking successive Section 38 agreements into a consistent scheme. Column locations were developed around boundaries, parking and foundations. Warm 3000 K sources, 3D calculations and masking techniques supported assessment of uniformity and spill beyond the adopted highway.
The outcome
The design supported a coordinated streetscape and lighting installation across a large residential regeneration scheme. Its phased approach brought together highway performance, visual character and control of light towards surrounding areas.
