Lighting and underground electrical design for the widening of Tarbock Island on the M62.
The challenge
Widening Tarbock Island required revised lighting within the constraints of existing highway infrastructure. The design needed to address the specified C2 lighting class and maintain a considered transition to the approach and departure roads.
Our approach
HDS combined photometric modelling, column positioning and luminaire selection with a redesign of the underground electrical network. The scope included passively safe lighting columns and automatic electrical disconnection arrangements, coordinated with the wider junction works.
The outcome
Working with the client, highway authority, statutory undertakers and other stakeholders, HDS progressed the coordinated lighting and electrical design through technical review to detailed design completion, ready for construction.
